A few weeks back, I came across this wonderful article about luck by Prof Richard Wiseman. It stuck in my mind for a while. What better excuse than to pause work and do some fun illustrations?
This time, I looked for a style that’s quick to create. As so often the magic lies in the simplification and reduction of elements. It took a while to find the “right” kind of strokes for this cut back style. I ended up using hand made illustrator brushes, which gave me more freedom in playing with the elements. It was fun and rewarding to create satisfying illustrations so quickly. This is a style I intend to explore some further. Here are some pictures:

Look, I decided to pare back even more. Get rid of the texture, use more inky strokes instead of graphite. I think it does the illustrations for this specific case well. But looking at this style now, I wonder if it’s worth playing with adding a rougher touch back into this style.
