Do you know Netflix’s series Marco Polo and its beautifully inked intro visuals, done by The Mill in London? If not, here’s the link to the trailer. While it surely takes years of practice to come to that level of perfection, I wanted to try myself in watercolour/aquarell painting. Read more →
Braving the elements is my favourite book in an excellent series. It’s funny, exciting, suspenseful, sexy. I’ve read it several times and enjoyed it every time anew. Here’s a link in case you’re interested: Darkness by KF Breene. Be warned though: it is a paranormal romance. It has vampires, mages, demons, werewolves. And love. Read more →
Anna Lowe’s Damnation sure isn’t one of my favourite books, but there is one thing that just made me smile. The hero’s affinity to baked goods, in particular the heroine’s muffins. In romances, the male leads are almost tough guys and don’t show such a weakness. But I thought it endearing. The style and the motive of that illustration doesn’t fit the essence of the book, but I had Kate Hindley’s lovely hand-textured character drawings in mind and wanted to try it out. Read more →
Since my lovely husband gifted me with a Kindle, I started reading again. Mainly during those countless and endless night feeds of my second daughter. And because my brain was hormone-driven mushy, I entertained the little intellectual capacity that was still left with some easy, sugary romances. Read more →
A few months ago, I received an email by a professor from university. While browsing the web, he stumbled onto my address and flicked me a message. So happy, he did. He’s one of the best teachers and mentors I ever had and he has had a huge influence on me. Here’s his website: Volker Lehnert. Go, check out his amazing work!
Adventscalendar 2016: sorted. I always enjoy making them for my family. Especially since having kids. This one is just for my husband though. Only rule was: the insides shouldn’t cost a thing. More images (and a little sneak at the cards) after the jump.
After 3 years of being head under in mummy land, I finally have some time to get the ball here rolling again. I just updated the portfolio with the latest sketchbook (which took me almost 3 years to finish…*ahem*). Here’s the link if you want to check it out: sketchbook no.8
Baby pause caused me to be a bit lazy with personal project. I totally forget how time consuming newborns are. After almost 5 months, I slowly get some personal time back. My fingers start itching for some design. There’s a small project for my lovely busband on the line, so stay tuned for an update. I hope it won’t take another 5 months 🙂 Meanwhile, here are some pictures of the only creative outlet I did in the last months: some birthday cards & packaging.
It’s been a while since I posted something new. The reason: it has been manic with freelance jobs in the last weeks. On top came that I lost all my work related files since working as a freelancer (personal and work files). I’m still in the process of getting back whatever can be recovered. It goes without saying that I didn’t manage to do personal work at all, so this time I just digged out an old thing I did for my mum on mother’s day.
