Finally, a small update on the relic of a portfolio page of this site. I added a new personal project! Head straight over to the project “25 things” to see the full work or simply jump to get a small preview.
A few weeks ago, I discovered this article, written by Darius Foroux. As the title states, the author wrote down 25 things about life, he wished he had known 10 years ago. Although I don’t fully agree with all of the statements, it’s still a great reminder of what’s most important in life. Definitely worth doing illustrations for 🙂
I chose to study/learn the wonderfully simple and conceptual illustration style of Iker Ayestaran for this. It always amazes me how a few seemingly quick, simple lines can express so much detail. The magic lies as so often in the simplification while at the same time sharpening the focus on the message. The characters appear consistently disproportional, almost childishly drawn, with their big bodies and small hands & heads, but clothes, body language/hands communicate a great deal.
